Anitech was born from a merger between Aarque and Anitech. Aarque's company origins date back some 110 years, when its founder, Max Wurcker, established a business in Sydney importing musical instruments.
The company first entered the sensitised paper market by manufacturing punched piano rolls and by the 1930s had become a leading local supplier of diazo, blueprint and sepia papers and plan-printing equipment.
During World War II, this made it an important link in the Defence chain.
Anitech began as Warburton Franki in 1902 and was responsible for the introduction of Philips lamps to Australia. In the 1930s and 40s it operated manufacturing plants around Australia and Asia producing almost the entire national supply of household electricity meters. Since the 1960s, the company has been supplying and maintaining computer-based systems, graphics and industrial electronics, and microprocessor hardware and software.
Warburton Franki was responsible for the successful introduction of Epson, Intel and many other technology leaders into Australia. In the early 1980s, Warburton Franki was renamed Anitech.
In 1997, Anitech was acquired by the publicly listed Hancock & Gore Group - HGL, (now known as HGL Limited), and merged with Aarque.
In 1998 Mitsui Computers' Customer Services Division was added to the business, enhancing Anitechs service capability, particularly in the area of helpdesk services.
Today, Anitechs commitment to providing high-quality service and technical support to meet customers' needs has earned it many supporters.
