MMC Metal Industries Sdn Bhd was formed in 1969 with major Australian interests. The initial foreign participation coupled with sound management and superior technical expertise has guided MMI to its present market leader's position.
Today, MMI can take pride in the fact that not only is it the leading Malaysian alloy steel foundry specialising in very abrasive- resistant, high temperature and corrosion-resistant ferrous castings but it stands out well above other foundries in this region as a "totally integrated" foundry with complete in-house facilities - from pattern-making to heat-treatment to finished product, with total quality assurance throughout all the manufacturing processes.
Besides being the largest alloy steel foundry in South-East Asia, MMI has also achieved the distinction of recognition by Lloyds, Germanischer Lloyd and ISO/IEC G25 - the only one in Malaysia as well as among the very few within Asia. In addition, all products are manufactured to conform to various International Standards. Among the recognised American, Japanese and British standards are ASTM, AISI, SAE, ASME, JIS, BS, AS and DIN.
The plant situated in the heart of the country's tin-rich Kinta Valley, is 10 kilometers from the city of Ipoh. It now covers 13,000 sq. meters on a 7. 5 -hectare site.
Annual capacity of the plant is 6,000 tonnes and the largest single casting that can be made is 7 tonnes with a maximum diameter of 4 meters.
