DEFERUM High Iron Removal Plants
Iron Removal of High Concentrations:
We would like to advise you on our DEFERUM system: http://www.deferum.com The system can deal with iron concentrations from 0.2 to 75 ppm (on a non-reagent basis), and also with other pollutions (hydrogen sulphide, smell, chromaticity, manganese, organic substances, etc.) Our main expertise is in water treatment, and more specifically in iron removal. We have come across various iron removal techniques ranging from greensand filtration, chlorination, ion-exchange to simple fountain-type aeration followed by sand/gravel barrier filtration into settling ponds. Another way is to keep the iron in solution by chemical means. However, in our view, all the above processes have limitations. Groundwater users want to have a realistic, cost-effective and reliable treatment system applicable for low, medium and high levels of iron. The process can be classified as intensive aeration/degasification followed by filtration. The corner stones of the system are a unique AKV aerator/degasifier and Polymer Floating Filtering Media. The media is not an ion- exchange resin. The media does not need to be regenerated or replaced. The system itself has no pumps, no compressors, and no electrical, rotating or moving parts - virtually nothing to go wrong. Backwash is hydro-automatic - i.e. is controlled by levels of water in the system. Only 0.8 to 1.6 % of daily water flow is used for backwashing - depending on the initial levels of iron. The system will backwash completely on its own when it is ready to backwash and the frequency of backwash is approximately once a day. Simplicity of the system came through hard research and development over the past 12 years. We tend to try and fabricate the systems locally for customers, very often with the customer's direct involvement. Systems can be fabricated from carbon steel, or stainless steel or plastic - whatever the client's requirements and cost considerations. In any case, the capital cost is very low. On the operating side, the only cost is the cost for electricity consumed by the bore pump. There are no other consumables. Please let us know if you have any cases where DEFERUM can be applied, and we would be happy to discuss the details with you.
