Shankars Emporium Pte Ltd (SEPL) is the flagship company of Singapore based Shankars group, owned by Bhojwani family. SEPL commenced its operations in Singapore in 1957 as an exporter, importer and wholesaler of textiles, electronics and other general merchandise etc. Since 1981 the Company has focused on trading exclusively in consumer electronic products in the world markets covering Asia, Middle East, Africa, Mediterranean, Caribbean, CIS, USA and Latin America.
During 1980s various related companies were incorporated to exploit new business opportunities in the domestic and overseas markets. The consolidated group turnover stands at S$300million. The Group also has a sizeable property portfolio. SEPL qualified for the Enterprise 50 awards continuously since its inception in 1995 upto 1999. This award is given out annually by EDB (Economic Development Board of Singapore), Accenture and Business Times to the top 50 companies in Singapore. The Group today is ranked among the top three consumer electronic goods trading houses in the region.The Company is primarily engaged in the trading of branded consumer electronic products manufactured by global brand leaders such as SONY, Panasonic, Philips, Sharp, Akai, Aiwa, Toshiba etc.TV, Video Products, Audio Products and Home Appliances make up for most of the Companys turnover.The Company has its warehouses at Singapore, Dubai (Jebel Ali) & Hamburg.SEPL has a wholly owned subsidiary in UAE at Jebel Ali, Dubai and a representative office in Lagos, Nigeria.
